Meet your chef

Hello! My name is Nathan Goins, I am the president of Hatchet and Whisk.

My journey with cooking started early - at just four years old, I was making scrambled eggs in our mobile home in Everett, Washington. By the time I was 12, I was preparing Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners (with my parents' supervision of course). Cooking quickly became my passion and my escape.

At 17, fresh out of high school, I dove headfirst into the culinary world as a prep cook at a hotel. My passion took me all the way to Berlin, Germany, where I pushed myself daily to learn, grow, and refine my skills.

When I returned home in 2020, the world had changed. Hotels were struggling, and the culinary industry felt unrecognizable. After working a series of uninspiring jobs, I hit a breaking point. I quit, took time to travel, focus on my mental health, and rebuild the energy I wanted to put into the world.

After time away, I realized I wasn't just a chef; I was a person who could make a real difference in people's lives through food.

I found my footing once I ventured into the personal chef industry. Taking on multiple families with a variety of diets, preferences and needs was a daunting task, but with the help of a few friends and some incredible clients, I have been able to create delicious restaurant quality meals and reignite my fire!
